WASHINGTON, DC (WKZO AM/FM) – The U.S. Small Business Administration has granted a disaster declaration for Branch, Cass, and St. Joseph counties in southwest Michigan after four tornadoes hit the area March 6th, killing four people.
The declaration allows residents, businesses, and nonprofits to apply for low-interest loans to repair or replace damaged real estate, machinery, equipment, inventory, business assets, and personal property that was destroyed or damaged during the storms.
Governor Whitmer requested the action by the SBA, and Republican Congressman Tim Walberg and Democratic U.S. Senator Gary Peters both said they are grateful for the designation.
