COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Happy Feet program through Altrusa International of Branch County has received another sizeable donation.
Dola Gleeson, the local Banking Center Manager for Chemical Bank, recently presented a check for $2,000.00 to Connie Winbigler, chairperson of the Happy Feet committee. This is the second year Chemical Bank has awarded a grant to the Happy Feet program.
From June 2017 to June 2018 the Happy Feet program distributed 478 pairs of footwear to Branch County children at a cost of $9397.80. Overall, in the 10 years of the program Altrusa has provided 3720 pairs of footwear at a cost of $54,067.17.
In addition to the Happy Feet program, Altrusa International of Branch County was instrumental in founding the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence/Shelterhouse programs as well as Altrusa Teen SHARE. It is also well known for its focus on literacy, international relations, and scholarships for non-traditional students.
