COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater fell to 6-5-1 overall and 1-3 in the Interstate 8 following a 7-2 loss to I-8 co-leader Harper Creek Wednesday night.
The Beavers scored five goals within an eleven-minute span in the first half and took a 6-0 lead to the halftime break. Samantha Bernard’s two goals early in the second half helped the Cardinals avoid the shutout. Ava Gilchrist and Aivry Chavez assisted on the Coldwater goals. The Beavers got the final score of the game with exactly three minutes left. Cardinal goalkeeper Abby Garcia made 28 saves.
Coldwater will host Hastings Friday night.
The Beavers also won the JV contest 7-1. Sophia Adams had the only Cardinal goal on a direct free kick in the second half.
The Bronson-Quincy girls soccer game scheduled for Wednesday was postponed until next Thursday, May 14th.
