BONSON, MI (WTVB) – Construction crews are now active at Bronson High School as the district officially kicks off a landmark $2.4 million athletic facility renovation this week.
Following a ceremonial groundbreaking on April 24, physical work is set to begin to replace the school’s aging six-lane yardage track with a modern, eight-lane metric track. This critical expansion is designed to meet Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) standards, finally allowing Bronson to host sanctioned league and postseason track meets.
Superintendent Kate Wall said it’s an exciting time that will be of great service for their students and community
The track project marks the first phase of a broader $29.91 million bond initiative approved by voters last November.
Beyond the new running surface, the stadium will see significant upgrades including LED lighting, regraded fields, and improved accessible parking.
Wall said they had originally hoped to be back on the football field by homecoming next season that’s not going to happen but instead of playing fall sports as all true road games area schools have stepped up to lend the use of their facilities
Wall also says another of their home football games will be played at Union City.
