COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s back to the drawing board for Branch County Sheriff John Pollack, as he tries to keep a full contingent of deputies on the road.
The Sheriff says longtime Deputy Steve Foster this week announced his retirement, effective July 31, 2018. That will take the department down to five road patrol deputies and one secondary road deputy. There is currently one deputy on long term sick leave.
Pollack plans to move a current part-time deputy to the fulltime slot being vacated by Foster’s retirement, then attempt to hire two additional part-time deputies.
If the employee currently on sick leave isn’t able to return by October 2018, the Sheriff plans to fill that slot on a fulltime basis as well.
