BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – On an extremely windy and cold day, Coldwater’s varsity golf team put up their best team score of the season Wednesday at the Interstate 8 Conference Championship at the Cedar Creek Golf Course in Battle Creek.
Coldwater shot a team score of 311, with four players shooting in the 70s for the round. Jackson Northwest won the event with a team score of 298 followed by Marshall with a 304 and Parma Western with a 308.
Coldwater’s balanced scoring saw Kolton Rice and Jake Fosdick each shooting 77, Jack Aker a 78, Dracyn Foster a 79, and Joe Searls and Braydon Wilkins each with an 80.
Dracyn Foster and Jack Aker were named All-Conference Honorable Mention for their performances in conference matches this season.
Coldwater ended up in fifth place in the final conference standings, counting both jamborees and the championsip. Parma Western won the conference title in a tough battle between them, Marshall, and Jackson Northwest.
The Cardinals will host a Pre-Regional tune-up Thursday at the Coldwater Golf Course.
