BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – It was quite a weekend for the Bronson Fire Department with the busiest time coming early Saturday morning.
It was around 5:00 a.m. Saturday when the alarm came in for several barns on fire at 728 Lilly Road in Noble Township. When firefighters arrived, they discovered 3 buildings on fire and all 3 had already collapsed to the ground. The hip roof barn, a pole barn and another barn structure were all a total loss.
The estimated value of the buildings was placed at $45,000 and $5,000 for the contents. There were no injuries.
Consumer’s Energy and Michigan State Police also responded to the scene southwest of Bronson. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
Late Friday afternoon, the Fire Department was called to 236 Oak Drive in Bronson for a reported oven fire. At the same time, around 5:30 p.m., there were reports of a burning wire type of smell that came in from two other homes in the area. Firefighters went door-to-door and found 5 homes in the Schmidt Farm subdivision with electrical issues. The main electric breakers were shut off in a total of 8 houses as a precaution. Consumer’s Energy responded and repaired the issue.
Finally, Friday about 11:00 a.m., the Bronson Fire Department was sent to Cranson Road east of Clearwater Road in Bethel Township for a reported personal injury accident which turned out to be only a property damage pickup truck crash.
