COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Redbirds won both of their games on the first day of the A.A.B.C. Mickey Mantle Regional Baseball Tournament Thursday as they defeated the Michigan Red Sox 11-6 and the Niles Braves 8-7.
With the two victories, the Redbirds finished first in their pool.
Breydyn Cook had three hits against Niles and delivered the winning RBI single in the last of the seventh. He was also the winning pitcher for the RedBirds. Austin Roby had three triples on the day while Austin Santure chipped in with three hits.
The Michigan Bulls and the Ottawa Streaks from Illinois also won their pools by winning twice on Thursday.
Play resumes at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at both Borden and Lowe Fields.
The next game for the Redbirds will be against Foutch Strike Zone 16 at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at Lowe Field.
