JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Big 8 Conference held its boys golf championship Tuesday at Jackson’s Arbor Hills Golf Club. Quincy came in third in the tournament with a team score of 366, Bronson was fifth with their score of 425, and Union City finished sixth with their score of 452. Springport won the tournament by 12 strokes over Stockbridge. The Spartans also won the overall conference championship, while Quincy was third, Bronson fifth, and Union City sixth.
For the Orioles, Braylon Estlow finished fourth with an 18-hole score of 83. Carson Craven and Bo Tissue tied for tenth, with both shooting rounds of 94. Jax Sergent finished just outside the top ten; he was part of a four-way tie for twelfth with his round of 95. Daniel Burritt carded a 101, and Codin Ayerdi fired a 104.
For the Vikings, Naz Salesman led the way with a round of 100. Andrew McConn shot a 104, Drew Shoup carded a 108, Layne Arver fired a 113, and Joseph Bir had a 117.
For the Chargers, Blayne Crance shot a 95, which was good enough to join a four-way tie for twelfth. Luke Arlt had a 117, Ryen Dibert and Zoey Fruin each fired a 120, Gabr Mowry carded a 123, and Henry Case shot a 130.
The Big 8 All-Conference Team was also announced at the end of the tournament, made up of the top ten golfers based on their scores in the seven league jamborees and the tournament. Three Quincy golfers made the All-Conference Team: Braylon Estlow, Jax Sergent, and Carson Craven. Union City’s Blayne Crance also made All-Conference.
Bronson, Quincy, and Union City will take part in an MHSAA Division 3 Regional next Tuesday, hosted by Schoolcraft at Island Hills Golf Club. Prior to Regionals, the Vikings will take on Colon in a scramble match Wednesday at Cedar Lake Golf Course in Howe, Indiana.
