OTSEGO, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal baseball team split a doubleheader Thursday at Otsego, winning the opener 11-1 in five innings and dropping the nightcap 5-2.
The Cardinals had only seven hits in the first game, but took advantage of seven Bulldog errors to build their lead. Logan Turner went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Finn Hanson was 2-for-4, and Matthew Hurley hit a two-run single and drove in three runs total. Owen Tappenden allowed one run on one hit with six strikeouts in four innings of work for the win, while Dayton Ennis pitched a scoreless fifth.
In the second game, Hanson hit a two-run single and finished 2-for-4 at the plate, while Luke Stout was 2-for-3. Hanson was on the hill when Otsego scored four runs in the fourth to take the lead for good.
Coldwater will take a 16-15 overall record to their home doubleheader Tuesday against Portage Central.
