COLDWATER, M I (WTVB) – Not one drop of rain has fallen in Coldwater so far in the month of July.
The National Weather Service forecast for Branch County is calling for more dry weather into the weekend. The forecast for Saturday through Monday is calling for a chance of showers and thunderstorms over the three day period but not the soaking rain your lawn probably needs right about now.
It has not rained in Coldwater since June 27. That was the only day out of the last 18 days that Coldwater has gotten any rain.
The dry weather comes after a very soggy May. Michigan State University Extension says Coldwater got seven-and-a-half inches of rain during the month.
Up until July, it’s been a year of high water and flooding in parts of southwest Michigan.
It’s gotten so dry, some farmers have been forced to turn on their irrigation units to give their crops some much needed moisture.
