COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The John Rohloff Coldwater Exchange Club Duck Race is returning to Waterworks Park this Saturday, bringing a full afternoon of family-friendly entertainment to Branch County.
Running from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the beloved annual tradition—formerly known as the Great Hospice Duck Race—features local food vendors, children’s activities, and the sight of thousands of rubber ducks plunging into the Coldwater River.
The highly anticipated duck drop is scheduled to take place at approximately 1:15 p.m., making it the centerpiece of the day’s outdoor festivities.
Jennifer Poe with the Noon Exchange Club says proceeds from this year’s event will go to benefit multiple organizations:
Now in its 33rd year, the race’s namesake, John Rohloff, said when he organized the first one in 1993, he never imagined it to still be going strong in 2026, but thanks to great support, it’s just as strong as ever:
Community members can participate in the high-stakes race by purchasing duck tickets for $5 each from Exchange Club members or local business sponsors right up until the launch. This year’s lucky winner will take home a grand prize of $2,026 in cash. In addition to the top payout, the event will award over two dozen secondary prizes, including local gift certificates, golf memberships, and smaller cash sums, ensuring plenty of excitement for attendees while supporting civic community projects.
