COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker is urging residents who live and travel on East and West Pearl and surrounding streets to prepare for a major infrastructure project that is scheduled to begin in early August.
The $2.89 million Pearl Street reconstruction project will completely overhaul East Pearl Street from Sprague to Division Street, West Pearl Street from South Clay Street to Fremont Street, and a block of South Hudson Street from US-12 to East Pearl Street.
Baker says the projest will cause traffic restrictions for several months
Baker says the project will also limit access to the Branch County Courthouse.
Funded entirely by the city’s voter-approved local street millage and Act 51 funds, the project aims to reverse years of road deterioration and replace outdated utility infrastructure, including underground water mains and storm sewers.
The Coldwater City Council officially finalized the project plans in June after unanimously awarding the nearly $2.9 million contract to Battle Creek-based general contractor Hunter-Prell.
