Roger Hoyt, 72, of Allen, Michigan, passed away July 16, 2026.
A memorial service will be held at the Allen Baptist Church Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., where family and friends will gather to honor Roger’s memory.
Interment will follow the service at Allen Cemetery.
Born December 4, 1953, Roger was a graduate of Quincy High School and spent much of his life in the Allen community.
For the last 25 years, Roger dedicated himself to hauling and scrapping metal, turning others’ discarded items into value. Before that, he worked in various factory positions. Known for his resourcefulness and determination, Roger approached life with a practical mindset and a generous spirit.
Roger’s passion for “junking” was not just a career but also his most beloved hobby. He was well-known for his knack for finding treasures among what others thought was junk. In addition to junking, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris “Tina” Hoyt; his parents, Kenneth Hoyt Sr. and Mable “Maxine” (Hemminger) Hoyt; and his brothers, Robert “Bob” Beck and Kenneth Hoyt Jr. He is survived by his daughter Rachel Hoyt; stepdaughters Casey Miller, Ashley Fite, Melissa Williams, and Elaina Williams; and niece Stephanie (Beck) Fox.
Roger will be remembered as an outgoing and friendly person who always found ways to make the best of life’s challenges. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
