COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Frank Walsh asked the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday to give him their priorities over the next several weeks as work on the 2027 Budget gets underway.
Walsh said he wants to get input from the Commissioners by the end of August on what’s important to them. He indicated his major budget priority is to set about a million dollars aside for the upgrade of county facilities.
Over two dozen meetings are scheduled with department leaders and elected officials on the budget during the first two weeks of August.
Walsh hopes to have the entire budget process wrapped up by the first meeting in November.
Up until last year, the county budget was formally adopted by the Commissioners during their final meeting of the year in December. But the process was changed by Walsh when he became County Administrator in 2025.
