LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced today criminal charges against individuals in cases related to allegations of illegal voting.
The charges involve accusations against non-citizens and a U.S. citizen.
These prosecutions stem from cases referred to the Michigan Department of Attorney General by the state’s election authorities.
State election officials have stated that instances of non-citizen voting represent an extremely small fraction of the total ballots cast.
Attorney General Nessel reaffirmed the state’s election protocols, stating that individuals who violate state law will be pursued. Other cases referred by the Michigan Department of State are under review.
A St Joseph County woman was among the five people charged, 39-year-old Alondra Harker of Three Rivers was charged with Fraudulent Registration which is a 90-day misdemeanor.
