COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Fair small and large animal auctions combined to bring in over $1.1 million Thursday and Friday to set a new record for the annual sale.
Thursday afternoon into the evening, the sale of starter calves, ducks, rabbits, turkeys, chickens, and geese brought in a total of $400,000 while the large animal auction on Friday morning of beef, dairy, swine, sheep, and goats totaled $742,743.68 for a grand total of $1,142,743.68, that beat the previous sales record set at the 2025 fair of $761,249 by $381,494 and some change.
The non-profit Branch County Junior Livestock Association runs the auction separately from both the fair and 4-H.
The animals are purchased by a large sector of the county including family members to businesses, companies like Walmart, Clemens as well as banks and insurance agencies, agricultural services, feed suppliers and vets.
Some groups even pool money to support specific exhibitors.
