COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The season ended Monday night for the Coldwater High School girls soccer team as they fell at home to Division Two fifth ranked Mason 8-0 in the first round of district play.
The Bulldogs got their first score six minutes into the game, then scored three more times in a three minute stretch midway through the first half. They added four more goals in the second half, including the final goal that ended the game on the mercy rule with 7:17 to play.
Mason outshot Coldwater 30-5, as Nadia Kiersey made 13 saves in goal.
The Lady Cardinals finish the season at 4-12.
Mason now advances to the district semifinals to face Eaton Rapids, who beat Charlotte 6-4 in double overtime Monday. Marshall will face host Parma Western in the other bracket, after Marshall beat Jackson Northwest 8-0 Monday. Parma Western had a first round bye.
Quincy advanced to the Division 3 district semifinals at Onsted with a 6-1 victory over the host school. Katie Rathbun had two goals and four assists for the Orioles. Madison Hinds had the hat trick with three goals. Emily Hollenbaugh also scored for Quincy.
Quincy will battle Jonesville Wednesday night at Onsted
