TEKONSHA, MI (WTVB) – Two Tekonsha Community Schools administrators are being investigated about their conduct.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports the Tekonsha Board of Education decided during a meeting last Saturday to spend $8,800 to retain a licensed professional investigator to look into how Superintendent Jeffrey Kawaski and Elementary Principal and Special Education Consultant Jennifer McGuff have conducted themselves.
Board President Daryl Blashfield told the Enquirer that Kawaski placed McGuff on paid non-disciplinary administrative leave last month due to alleged workplace misconduct.
The newspaper also reported a community member accused Kawaski of misconduct during a board meeting this month.
McGuff got into some legal hot water while working for the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District. She was charged with allegedly filing false travel expenses, failing to return school materials and overcharging her employer for a tuition payment.
The Enquirer reports she entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge of false pretenses between $200 and $1,000. Besides getting a 90 day jail term and being placed on probation for two years, McGuff was ordered to pay over $8,400 in restitution.
