COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent Terry Boguth told her Board of Education Monday night that the district is in the process of rewriting all of their crisis plans at every building in the district.
She said they are working with local police as they go into every building and do an assessment on safety and security.
Boguth said they are looking at using a device called Night Lock that would make classroom doors inaccessible to intruders.
Along the lines of school security, Boguth said there have been 21 registrants so far for the A.L.I.C.E. training session Coldwater Community Schools will be hosting August 1 and 2, 2018.
The Board of Education approved a three year master service agreement with the A.L.I.C.E. Training Institute of Medina, Ohio in March.
A.L.I.C.E. stands for Alert-Lockdown-Inform-Counter-Evacuate and is a federal Homeland Security Department program. The training provides information on what to do in case there is an active shooter or an aggressive intruder.
