STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A commercial building in Sturgis, sustained substantial interior damage following a fire on Saturday.
Just after 4:00 p.m., the Sturgis Department of Public Safety (SDPS) Fire Division was dispatched to the 900 block of North Clay Street after receiving urgent reports of smoke billowing from the commercial property.
First responders arrived quickly to combat the blaze and managed to prevent the flames from leveling the entire structure.
The SDPS Fire Division was assisted at the scene by emergency crews from the Tri-Township Fire Department and Burr Oak Fire Rescue. While the fire was successfully contained, officials confirmed the building suffered severe internal losses.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have not released a dollar amount on the loss.
