COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A 22-year-old man faces up to five years in prison after being charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving force following an incident in Coldwater.
Tayshaun Crump was arrested by Coldwater Police after a woman reported that he assaulted her during a sexual encounter on last Friday.
According to the felony complaint, the two initially met at a McDonald’s before driving to the Park and Ride lot located next to I-69.
The victim later sought medical treatment at Insight Emergency Room, where she informed authorities that she explicitly told Crump to stop when he used an object without her consent.
In a probable cause affidavit, prosecutors noted that Crump admitted the victim did not give permission and had stated “no” twice.
Following his arrest, Crump was arraigned in Branch County District Court.
Magistrate Valerie White set his bond at $50,000 cash or surety and issued a strict no-contact order protecting the victim. A preliminary examination for the case has been scheduled for Sept. 23.
Crump has since bonded out of the Branch County Jail.
