COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy’s planned power outage that was postponed last weekend in parts of Branch County, will now take place on Saturday night into Sunday morning.
The nine-hour blackout was originally slated to occur last weekend but was postponed by Consumers due to the threat of inclement weather.
That service interruption will begin at 10:00 p.m. Saturday and run until 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning, impacting 3,507 customers in Quincy, Butler Township, and parts of Coldwater Township.
Consumers crews are utilizing the overnight maintenance window to upgrade a substation, an investment they say is aimed at enhancing long-term grid reliability and reducing unexpected future outages.
Consumers Energy spokesperson Brian Wheeler says that the work will cause an intermittent or total loss of electricity, impacting neighborhoods around Marble Lake and the east side of Bartholomew Lake.
Local residents who rely on refrigerators, water wells, or critical medical devices are urged to secure backup generators or alternative arrangements prior to the disruption.
