COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU) will host its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Document Shredding Day tomorrow.
The environmental initiative will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Branch County Fairgrounds, on Sprague St., with residents instructed to enter from Sprague Street.
Orchestrated to safeguard local drinking water and the city’s watershed, the event allows area residents to safely discard toxic materials and eliminate sensitive documents before the winter months.
The drive-thru collection is offered free of charge, but services are open exclusively to residents within participating Branch County municipalities.
Valid identification or proof of residency is required for entry from communities including the cities of Coldwater and Bronson, the Village of Quincy, and surrounding townships like Algansee, Girard, and Ovid.
Staff will accept a wide range of hazardous residential materials, including oil-based paints, pesticides, gasoline, medical sharps, and fluorescent bulbs, helping keep volatile contaminants completely out of local landfills and waterways.
