COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater has expanded public access to lifesaving emergency medical equipment by installing a new outdoor automated external defibrillator (AED) in Heritage Park near the tennis courts.
Designed to withstand outdoor conditions, the specialized enclosure ensures the device remains accessible around the clock, even when nearby park facilities and City offices are closed.
The project was inspired by a similar initiative in another municipality and brought to life through a collaborative effort among City and Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU) staff, including Julie Santure, Dave Schmaltz, David Hall, Matt Metz, Todd Porter, and Nick Kanouse.
City officials encourage residents and visitors to familiarize themselves with the new AED location to improve community emergency preparedness.
In the event of a cardiac emergency, individuals should immediately dial 911, prompting the dispatcher to provide the necessary access code to open the enclosure alongside step-by-step instructions.
