COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Haunted History Trail has officially expanded beyond New York for the first time with the launch of the Haunted History Trail of Michigan.
Developed in partnership with Coldwater Country, Discover Kalamazoo, and Visit Keweenaw, this new self-guided travel resource features eight inaugural locations spanning both the Upper and Lower Peninsulas.
Designed for curious travelers and paranormal enthusiasts alike, the Trail allows visitors to curate their own itineraries to explore historic homes, a theater, cemeteries, eerie outdoor spaces, and even an abandoned Air Force station through the lens of local legends and unexplained occurrences.
Unlike a traditional fixed-route tour, the program serves as a comprehensive planning tool where experiences vary by destination, offering everything from guided tours and paranormal investigations to standard public visits.
The website also hosts a dedicated haunted events calendar to connect travelers directly with seasonal activities, featuring prominent historic sites like the Branch District Library in Coldwater as part of its 2026 collection.
Rooted in a collaborative model that has successfully grown to over 80 locations in New York since 2013, the Michigan expansion aims to boost heritage tourism by encouraging visitors to step inside these unique historic spaces, engage with local communities, and uncover the real history behind the hauntings.
