COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -Branch County residents looking to clear out clutter will have the perfect opportunity this weekend as the county hosts its annual free scrap tire recycling event.
Funded by a state EGLE Scrap Tire Grant and organized in partnership with the Van Buren Conservation District, the event will take place this Saturday, October 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..
Drop-offs will be collected at the east parking lot of the Animal Control facility, located at 375 Keith Wilhelm Drive in Coldwater, just south of the county jail.
The event is open strictly to Branch County households and operates on a first-come, first-served basis while trailer capacity lasts.
To ensure a smooth operations flow, officials have set a strict limit of 10 tires per vehicle, and only passenger car or pickup truck tires will be accepted; no semi or tractor tires are permitted.
Local authorities emphasize that tires must only be brought during the official hours, warning that any off-hours dumping in the area is illegal and will be heavily monitored by 24-hour surveillance cameras.
