COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council is expected to officially consider the final adoption of the city’s new Master Plan at its meeting tonight.
The vote follows a state-mandated 63-day public comment window that began this summer after council members authorized the draft document for regional and agency review in July.
Compiled after more than a year of community surveys and steering committee sessions, the comprehensive document will replace the city’s outdated 2017 blueprint to guide municipal growth over the coming decade.
The extensive forward-looking draft addresses key local infrastructure goals, including expanding housing options to meet resident needs, driving economic development, and preserving the community’s parks and natural spaces.
Developed in partnership with Grand Rapids-based Progressive Companies, the roadmap incorporates feedback from more than 800 citizens who highlighted the city’s downtown district, local arts, and recreational assets as vital strengths to cultivate.
If approved by the council tonight, the finalized plan will immediately serve as the official policy framework for Coldwater’s zoning ordinances, capital improvements, and future land-use decisions.
