LANSING, MI (WTVB) – With a little less than three weeks left until Michigan’s November 3 General Election, more than 440,000 voters have already cast their ballots. According to data released by the Michigan Department of State, the 440,677 returned absentee ballots represent roughly 6% of the state’s 7.4 million active registered voters, tracking slightly ahead of the turnout pace from the 2022 midterm election.
State election officials reported that over 2 million citizens have requested mail-in ballots so far—a notable 20% surge compared to the same period four years ago, with the highest concentrations of requests emerging from Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Kent counties.
Election officials are urging remaining voters to finalize their plans, noting that ballots can still be securely submitted via local clerk offices, designated drop boxes, or mail.
For those looking to avoid the queues on Election Day, the state will also offer at least nine days of mandatory in-person early voting starting on October 24, ahead of the November 3 election.
