COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two members of the Coldwater High School girls basketball team have been named to the Basketball Coaches’ Association All-State teams. Sophomore Carlee Crabtree earned a spot on the Association’s Best Class A team while junior Tyler Scheid earned spot on the honorable mention team.
Crabtree and Scheid helped the Cardinals compile a 22-3 record while earning the program’s first MHSAA District Championship since 1995.
Crabtree averaged 14.2 points per game. She connected on 33 3-pointers, the sixth highest total in program history. Crabtree averaged 4.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and had 35 steals. She earned Interstate 8 All-Conference honors and has been named to the Associated Press second team, Detroit Free Press third team, and the Detroit News honorable mention team.
Scheid averaged nearly a double-double on the season, averaging 10.2 points and nine rebounds. Her 226 rebounds were the third highest total in the program’s history.
She also led the Cardinals with 39 blocks and 73 defensive deflections. Scheid earned Interstate 8 All-Conference honors, earned the team’s Player of the Year Award based on an statistical formula, and was voted by her teammates as the team’s Most Valuable Player and Leadership Award winner.
Both Crabtree and Scheid, along with teammate Malorie Rzepka, have been selected to participate in the MHSAA/BCAM Reaching Higher event in July for the top returning players in the state of Michigan.
