LANSING, MI (WTVB) – A federal court has struck down Trump administration rules that would have made it harder for vulnerable residents to exempt themselves from Medicaid work requirements.
Ruling in a lawsuit filed by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and a coalition of states, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts found the administration’s strict new interpretation of “medically frail” under the Big Beautiful Bill Act to be unlawful.
The legal challenge targeted an interim final rule by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services that increased administrative red tape and put eligible residents at risk of losing coverage.
