JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – In high school wrestling, Coldwater had four champions and finished second Saturday at the Interstate 8 Conference tournament hosted by Jackson Northwest.
Matt Gipple recorded his 100th career win as he won the championship at 160 pounds.
Other Coldwater conference champs were Marshall Hoard (112), Zeke Nowicki (125) and Griffen Olmstead (171).
Bronson won the Big 8 Conference wrestling championship and Coach Chad Butters was named the conference coach of the year award.
Winning conference championships were Ben Modert (119), Ruger Ranney (160) and Justin Blankenship (189). Finishing second were Brendan Withington (125), Craig Tappenden (145) and Issac Tappenden (152).
Union City had two champions and finished fourth. Brayton Mears won the 103 pound championship while Brayton Burgett took the crown at 285 pounds. Andrew Smith was second at 112 pounds.
Quincy’s Chandler Locke won the championship at 171 pounds.
