JACKSON, MI – (WTVB) – Coldwater dropped a tough league match up against the Jackson area gymnastics team on Thursday night by a score of 138.475 to 132.45.
Coldwater’s Abby Travelbee was second on the uneven bars.
Coldwater posted a team total of 33.525 points on the vault as the Cards turned in seven individual regional scores. Layla Schoch led the team with a score of 8.55.
Coldwater posted their highest event total of the evening on the floor exercise for their third event, tallying 34.825 points. They claimed an impressive eight individual qualifying scores.
Coldwater finished the night on the balance beam where they managed to record a team total of 32.225. The Cards had four stuck routines and six individual qualifiers on the event. Travelbee had the highest score at 8.45 points with Schoch collecting 8.3 points.
In the all-around, Travelbee was the top scorer for Coldwater at 33.85 points for fourth place. Schoch was sixth at 33.65 total points. Coldwater will next compete on Saturday, January 25th at Kenowa Hills.
The gymnasts will be hosting a youth clinic on Saturday at the auxiliary gym in order to help raise funds for their Stick It For a Cure Cancer Benefit meet. Youngsters ages 2 to 5 will start at 8:30 for the first session, followed by a school age session starting at 9:30. Walk-ins are welcome. Call the CHS Athletic office for more information at 279-5910.
