COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Aqua Pit on South Michigan Avenue in Coldwater Township opened on Saturday but some of its offerings are on hold due to Governor Whitmer’s COVID-19 restrictions.
The kayak and paddle board section is open between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.. Owners Seth and Amber Berry say the beach section will open soon followed by the Aqua Park section as they will be following all of the governor’s policies.
The Aqua Pit covers nearly 200 acres and would operate on the newly named Lake Brayton. The lake used to be the site of a former gravel pit.
The Aqua Park will feature inflatables that are structured similar to an obstacle course, jungle gym, and playground.
The Coldwater City Council approved over $237,000 from the city’s Revolving Loan Fund that is part of the federal government’s Community Development Block Grant program for the project in June of 2019. It was the first use of C.B.D.G. Revolving Loan Funds since the Tasty Twist expanded in 2017.
The Aqua Pit would have seven full time employees. More information about the facility including its prices can be found at www.theaquapit.com.
