BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Fire Department has announced they have been awarded a vehicle by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
The department said on a Facebook post that they got a 2011 Ford F-250 crew cab four-wheel drive truck with 75,000 miles on it through the Federal Excess Equipment program at no cost.
The truck will be returned to the DNR when it is no longer serviceable or when it no longer fits the department needs.
An application for a federal surplus vehicle was submitted about a year ago.
The truck will be equipped with medical equipment so that when the department’s licensed medical response vehicle is responding to an emergency, the new truck can respond if there is a second medical call.
It will also transport personnel and equipment as needed.
Firefighters will also be able to utilize the truck when traveling to training sessions outside the Bronson fire district and it will also be used as a command vehicle.
The Bronson Fire Department says they have received around $250,000 in grant funding and equipment during the last two years.
