DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk is on track in his rehabilitation from ankle surgery. Datsyuk had the procedure to repair ruptured tendons in late June and yesterday Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said the team is encouraged by his progress. Datsyuk should know when he can resume hockey activities after a check up with his surgeon next month.
Holland also said he hopes forward Johan Franzen will be able to take part in the upcoming training camp after his season ended in January with a concussion. Franzen has been working out and told Holland he has gotten better over the summer. Detroit begins preseason play September 22 in Chicago and will host Toronto in the regular season opener October 9, 2015.
