BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, in wrestling last night at the MHSAA Bronson Class C Team Regional, the host Vikings had their season come to an end with a 45-27 loss in their semifinal match against Hudson. After the victory over Bronson, the second-ranked Tigers went on to defeat Big 8 Conference Champion Springport in the finals 39-33. Picking up wins for the Vikings were Landon Gould, Joey Losinski and Jukoada Sexton with pins for Gould and Losinski. Bronson’s other points were awarded on voids for Kahle Scheenks and Brett Burtrum.
The Vikings finished the season with a 25-3 record. Bronson had 7 wrestlers who advanced last week along with 7 others from Branch County who will compete in Saturday’s Individual Regionals. Bronson was the only county school that qualified for the team regionals. Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek will host the Team State Finals next weekend. Wrestling was the only event on yesterday’s high school schedule.
Tonight, in boys varsity basketball, in a makeup game, Bronson plays at home against Mendon. The boys and girls reserve basketball schedule this evening includes Coldwater vs. Harper Creek with the Boys games in Coldwater starting with the freshman action beginning at 5:30 pm followed by the Junior Varsity at around 7 pm. And in bowling this afternoon, Coldwater has a home match at Midway Lanes against Pennfield.

In middle school sports yesterday, in Girls basketball, the Bronson 8th grade team was a 58-15 winner at home over Mar-Lee with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Ashton Wronikowski. Kiera Lasky added 11 points and 12 rebounds while Jolie Smoker had 10 points. Maddy Thompson had a team-high 13 rebounds.
The Union City 8th grade team defeated Springport 24-22 in the second round of their Big 8 tournament at Jonesville with 11 points for Danielle Cross.
