BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, Bronson followed up their victory in the Union City Rotary Tournament by winning the Potterville Invitational on Saturday. The Vikings defeated Cheryl Stockwell Academy 12-2, Potterville 7-0 and Carson City Crystal 1-0 in the championship game as they improved their record to 10-1.
Brett Sikorski, Daniel McMichael and Ethan Cossairt were the winning pitchers. McMichael earned the save in the title game. The only Viking run in that game came on an RBI double by Noah Roberts. Tyler Roussey had two doubles and two RBI’s against Cheryl Stockwell Academy. McMichael drove in three runs against Potterville.
Coldwater’s J.V. went 2-1 and finished third in their invitational baseball tournament on Saturday. The Cardinals defeated Loy Norrix 12-2, lost to Sturgis 13-0 and then defeated Battle Creek Pennfield 11-3. Lucas Santure and Austin Spray were the winning pitchers. Cody Nill got the save against Pennfield. Santure had three hits against Loy Norrix while Nathan Spray tripled and drove in two runs in the Pennfield game. Brent Smoker, Oliver Winter and Austin Spray all had two hits against Pennfield.
The Coldwater J.V. girls softball team scored two runs in the last of the seventh to defeat Fremont 6-5 in the championship game of their invitational tournament on Saturday. Winning pitcher Tyler Scheid struck out 15 batters. She also had two singles and a double. Coldwater advanced to the finals with a 17-5 win over Sturgis. Cheyenne Akers was the winning pitcher. Carly Duke had three hits and drove in three runs. The Coldwater J.V.’s are now 14-1.
In girls tennis Monday, Coldwater will host Parma Western. In softball, Quincy will play at Napolean, while in girls soccer, Quincy will host Jonesville.
