COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Education is scheduled Monday night to consider whether or not the district should move forward with plans to start classes before Labor Day this August.
The Michigan Department of Education recently granted a three year waiver starting with the 2017-2018 school year that would allow the Branch I.S.D. along with the Coldwater, Bronson and Quincy school districts and Pansophia Academy to start classes before Labor Day.
The waiver would not affect students in the Union City School District since they belong to the Calhoun ISD.
Early starts have already been approved by the Bronson, Quincy and B.I.S.D. boards. Their approval was contingent upon action by the other school districts and the Pansophia Academy.
If not district is on board with the early start, classes would start the Tuesday after Labor Day just like in the rest of Michigan.
