QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – There was a house fire last night in Branch County’s Algansee Township. Quincy firefighters were on the job for more than 2 hours with mutual aid from the Coldwater Fire Department.
Upon arrival at 218 Donnell Drive where Mike Carroll lives, they found smoke showing with flames coming from the rear of the one story modular dwelling. The fire was contained to the dining and living room areas but the rest of the house had significant smoke damage. The blaze was sparked by a malfunction in a kerosene heater. Carroll had just filled the heater and it ignited but he managed to escape injury.
The home wasn’t a total loss but the contents were due to the smoke damage. The property was not insured.
Lifecare Ambulance and the Branch County Victim Services unit also responded to the scene.
