COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Manager Jeff Budd announced a retirement and a departure during Monday night’s City Council meeting.
Budd said Pat Mills has retired after nearly 35 years of service to the city. Mills started in the City’s Forestry Department and ultimately retired from the Department of Municipal Services. His official retirement date was March 2, 2016 and a retirement party will be held at a later date.
Meanwhile, Brian Wohlheter has left the Coldwater Police Department after 15 years to pursue other career opportunities.
Budd also reported the city has received favorable bids for the infrastructure associated with the Clemens Food Group project. He said the bids are being evaluated and will be presented to the LDFA board for final approval on March 23rd.
In other business, the Council granted permission to the Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce to hold the Farmers Market in the Four Corners Park starting on June 25th. They will be held each Saturday until September 10th.
The council also approved an agreement regarding the Solar Project Power Sales contract.
A solar energy farm is being erected on the old Midwest Foundry site which would eliminate what has been one of the biggest eyesores in the city. Coldwater B.P.U. Director Paul Beckhusen says it’s hoped construction will start next month and be finished by the end of the year.
