COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The recent fundraising drive to replace the tennis courts at Heritage Park resulted in a lot of community support.
Dr David Rubley said during Monday nights Coldwater City Council meeting that they raised over $900,000 and organizers are not through raising money for the project. He said people would contribute anywhere from $5 to $50 during the drive.
Rubley mentioned that when they needed just $55 to reach their goal for a crowd funding grant from the State of Michigan, a woman called and said she would contribute that much money.
Plans call for the replacement of the existing tennis courts as well as the installation of new lighting and fencing. An endowment for future maintenance will also be established.
The project is expected to go out for bids in the next week. Work is scheduled to begin right after the Coldwater High School girls tennis season ends. It’s hoped the new courts will be ready for the boys tennis season which starts in August.
