COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to discuss a request from the Community Health Center of Branch County to change retirement plans later this month.
The hospital has requested the county put a freeze on the existing defined benefit program October 1, 2016 and enter into a resolution adopting the MERS Defined Contribution Plan.
County Administrator Bud Norman said during Thursday’s commissioner’s Work Session that the change is being made in anticipation of ProMedica’s purchase of the hospital.
Commissioners Don Vrablic and Rod Olney both expressed a desire that the proposed change should be looked at very carefully. Hospital President and C.E.O. Randy DeGroot along with a representative from MERS are scheduled to appear before commissioners during their August 17 work session.
