COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Warsaw, Indiana man was sentenced on two charges Monday in Branch County Circuit Court following a pursuit that crossed the Indiana-Michigan state line several times before it ended in the Hoosier State September 24, 2016.
40-year-old Cory Thomas was told to serve six months after entering a guilty plea to fourth degree fleeing and eluding. He also got a 93 day sentence for impaired driving.
Four other charges were dismissed in exchange for the guilty pleas.
Thomas was also placed on probation for 20 months and was given credit for five days already served.
The pursuit started when a Michigan State Police Trooper tried to stop Thomas’ pickup truck for improper lane use and speeding on southbound I-69 near Stokes Road.
Thomas is facing four charges in Steuben County in connection with the chase. A jury trial in Steuben Circuit Court is scheduled for June 14, 2017.
