COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The city of Coldwater, has been chosen to participate in the MSU Extension’s First Impressions Tourism (FIT) program for 2026.
As part of this community assessment initiative, five unannounced volunteers were sent into Coldwater to evaluate the town’s unique assets, local tourism offerings, and overall visitor experience.
To reveal these unvarnished findings, the community will host a First Impressions Tourism Community Forum on Wednesday, November 11, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the historic Tibbits Opera House.
This public meeting serves as the official unveiling of the volunteers’ feedback, highlighting the great, the good, and the bad, while providing actionable insights to help shape local development strategies.
The primary objectives of the FIT program focus on helping the community view its local assets from a fresh perspective, identifying key opportunities for community improvement, and teaching foundational concepts in place-making.
This collaborative project is supported by several local entities, including Coldwater Country, Coldwater Recreation, Coldwater Main Street, and the City of Coldwater, with refreshments sponsored by The Hope Café.
While the forum is entirely free to the public, organizers emphasize that advanced reservations are mandatory.
