COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Members of the public told the Coldwater City Council on Monday night that the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities.has mistreated the owners of D and M Auto in regards to a four foot easement between D and M and the old Sauk Trail Trading Post building.
Downtown business owner and fourth ward City Council candidate Alexia Rish said this was another example of bullying by city employees.
Business owner Duke Griffin says a fence is blocking two of his five doors.
CBPU Director Paul Beckhusen said a fence has been put in for safety while the building is being renovated. He says his staff was working with D and M regarding this issue but he noted that the site plan for the new facility was not yet finalized.
Mayor Tom Kramer said there was nothing the City Council could do to settle this dispute.
The building is being renovated for the CBPU’s Telecommunications Division and the Michigan South Central Power Agency.
