COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police were busy working on a couple of Branch County marijuana cases on Labor Day.
Monday night, a traffic stop was made for speeding on I-69 and troopers said after they discovered cash in the vehicle, the driver was interviewed at the MSP Coldwater post where according to investigators the man admitted he was on his way to make a marijuana buy in Coldwater. Troopers said the suspect sent a text to the alleged marijuana dealer setting up a transaction and the State Police made an arrest in a business parking lot on the east side of the city.
22-year old Drake Harvey, who lives in Batavia Township was booked on preliminary charges of 2 counts of delivery of marijuana following the discovery of what was believed to be a pound of pot in his car. Harvey posted a $25,000 cash or surety bond with his District Court arraignment set for September 12, 2017.
Meanwhile, authorities say a 33-year old Pennsylvania man turned himself in at the Branch County Jail Monday after being accused of having a marijuana grow operation at a location in Bethel Township on west Nettleman Road. State Police said they found evidence of the pot business back in March of this year after arriving at the residence to interview someone on an unrelated fraud complaint.
33-year old Anthony Corso was booked on 4 counts with the preliminary charges of delivery of marijuana, delivery of other illegal substances, maintaining a drug house, and possession of a firearm to commit a crime. Corso is free after posting bail on a $100,000 bond, ten percent allowed. His arraignment is scheduled for September 25, 2017.
