QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say a Coldwater man was arrested on a drunk driving charge after he crashed his minivan into a ditch early yesterday morning in Quincy Township.
Troopers say the 37-year old driver was alone in his 2006 Dodge caravan and southbound on Clarendon Road when he failed to stop at the Jonesville Road t-intersection. The man was still behind the wheel when State Police reached the scene and they identified the driver as Omar Saleh-abdul Aljabaly. He managed to escape injury but was transported to the Community Health Center of Branch County for a blood alcohol level test before being taken to the Branch County Jail for booking.
Aljabaly was arraigned Tuesday in District Court on an OUIL charge and is free on bail after posting a $5,000 bond last night. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for November 21, 2017. State Police were assisted yesterday morning by Quincy Village Police.
Troopers say Aljabaly had a prior drunk driving conviction in 2003.
