COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two long time Coldwater Noon Rotarians were honored over the weekend with their selection as recipients of the Paul Harris Award, the highest honor for club members. Wayne Kellogg and Norb Strobel were recognized at a Friday night banquet in the annual event for the award named for the founder of Rotary International.
Kellogg and Strobel are the 53rd and 54th members of Noon Rotary to accept the honor, which brings a donation of $1,000 from the club in their names to the Coldwater Rotary Foundation.
Strobel has been a club member since 1987 and remains very active in Rotary and in the community, where he has owned a number of businesses. He and his late wife of 53 years, Barb, had 9 children, and the family now includes 56 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides family, his greatest passion his is Catholic faith and the Knights of Columbus, of which he has been a K of C member for 58 years.
Wayne Kellogg, a Rotarian since 1994, was a long time teacher, coach, and athletic director at Coldwater High School, where he served as AD for 20 years beginning in 1972. CHS realized a significant growth in sports programs during Kellogg’s tenure, especially in girl’s athletics.
The Coldwater Noon Rotary club maintains its tradition of choosing their award winners based on merit and community service while other Rotary Clubs allow their members to purchase their Paul Harris Fellowships.
