CLEVELAND, OH (WTVB) – Former Detroit sportscaster Fred McLeod has died at the age of 67.
McLeod spent over two decades on Detroit television as a sports anchor and play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Pistons. He also broadcast Tigers games in the 1990s. He returned to his native Ohio to do play-by-play for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2006.
McLeod was back on Detroit airwaves this summer broadcasting Lions preseason games, a job he held in the 1980’s.
He is survived by his wife Beth, his three children, and his mother and sister.
